Description

This used Maxitherm Natural Gas Fired Steam Boiler was manufactured by Maxitherm Boilers Pty Ltd, Sydney, Australia, in 1992. Originally supplied as a 6MW briquette-fired packaged steam boiler to a dairy processing facility in Koroit, Victoria, the boiler was subsequently converted to natural gas firing before being relocated to a major dairy processing plant in Maffra, Victoria, where it supplied 17.5 Bar (1,750 kPa) process steam to the site’s existing steam distribution system until the factory ceased production in 2023.

As part of the conversion, the original briquette firing system was removed and replaced with a Maxitherm wind box natural gas burner, increasing the boiler’s output from its original 6MW to an operating capacity of approximately 7–7.5MW. Although the conversion was originally intended to achieve an 8MW output, the boiler was reportedly operated at around 7.5MW due to combustion air limitations at the existing factory.

The boiler has also benefited from a number of significant upgrades during its service life, including a replacement economiser to improve thermal efficiency and reduce fuel consumption, together with a modernised control system installed circa 2004. In addition, the original briquette-fired furnace floor has been covered with refractory, providing potential for future conversion to an alternative solid fuel system if required.

Throughout its service life, the boiler underwent regular maintenance and statutory inspections, ensuring a well-maintained operating history suitable for continued industrial service.

The boiler is offered complete with its replacement economiser, providing additional heat recovery and improved operating efficiency. Its robust Maxitherm construction, upgraded combustion system and proven operating history make it an excellent solution for dairy, food, beverage and general industrial processing facilities requiring reliable, high-capacity steam generation.

The boiler remains installed at its current location and is available for inspection by appointment. This provides prospective purchasers with the opportunity to assess the boiler in situ, review its condition and installation, and inspect the associated ancillary equipment prior to dismantling.
