Electrical/Mechanical Service Engineer

A Machinery World Service Engineer provides on or off-site corrective or preventative maintenance and offers after-sales technical support solutions once a product has been sold.

Typical work activities include:

  • Responding to customer call-outs
  • Evaluating and resolving problems
  • Assisting with the installation and commissioning of equipment
  • Liaising with and working alongside technical sales
  • Offering customer training
  • Repairing, testing and maintaining equipment
  • Monitoring the performance of products
  • Provide and Maintain machine manuals
  • Providing customers with regular reports and feedback on their service requests
  • Set a good impression to customers, approach work in a safe, professional manner with clean and tidy appearance
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customers
  • Making recommendations to customers and their maintenance technicians
  • Offering feedback on future product development, features and functions
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure is required at all times
  • A good all-round knowledge and fault-finding ability to both mechanical and electrical issues

Maintain good communications with your departmental manager at all times recognising any personal training needs. Fixed Conditions & KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)

  • Working within set time frames
  • Maintaining high levels of Health & Safety
  • Working to consistent professional standard
  • Self-motivated, monitoring and operating under your own initiative without the need for constant supervision
  • Operating in a manner to maximise company profitability

Typically, the role is split between Machinery World, Wolvey site and the customers’ premises

Regular travel within the UK is a common feature, on average this will involve 2 x overnight stays per week. Overseas (worldwide) travel is also required for short periods of time, on average this is estimated as 3 -4 times per year.
